   Time is flying. Since we said good-bye in 1982, many years have elapsed. At the end of this year, we will celebrate the 25 year’s anniversary of our graduation from Xi’an Medical College. I would like to say that I miss you, all my school mate friends.

   After graduation from the dental school in late 1982, I had a post-graduated study in oral pathology for three years, and then worked in the Stomatological Hospital, Xian Medical University as an oral pathologist for seven years. During those years, I visited University of Chicago, and studied oral pathology for one year. And I also attended to the Seventh National Advanced Biochemistry Training Class in Shanghai.  In 1993, I left our home university, Xian Medical University, and pursued a Ph.D. study in pathology at the Fourth Military Medical University. I did my Ph.D. research in the Institute of Virology, National institute of Preventive Medicine in Bejing for two years. After the Ph.D. study, I worked in the Fourth Military Medical University for almost four years as instructor and associated professor.

   In 2000, I came to the USA again and did a postdo fellowship research in the National Institute of Environment Health Science/NIH for two years. Later, I moved to Winnipeg, MB, Canada, and have been working in the University of Manitoba as a research associate, continuing bio-medical research. I am not sure where I shall move again. But, mostly I shall work in lab for the coming years.

   During the past 25 years, my job was changed many times, and I moved quite a number of places.  However, I found it difficult to change the things which have been deeply rooted in my life.  First thing is the feeling to our home city, home province and home country. I have been back in our home city many times in my dream. Up to now, I still treasure good memories when I was an oral pathologist or when I was an army man in our home country. Second thing is that I am still deeply influenced by our Chinese culture. I like the Chinese TV plays very much. And, I like to talk to the Chinese friends in Chinese language, especially in Shaanxi dialect.  I prefer Chinese foods to Western foods. My family life is happy. My daughter is now studing in university.
